Standards, compliance pathway, and quality framework

Blend Plants continuous volumetric mobile plants are engineered for on-site concrete production with an industrial approach to dosing, mixing, and traceability. The production process is computer-controlled and integrates cement and aggregate weighing, admixture dosing, and water control to support consistent output and reduced operational variability.

Continuous volumetric and continuous-mixing standards

Blend Plants technology aligns with the U.S. regulatory framework for volumetric measuring and continuous mixing equipment. In this framework, ASTM C685 is the primary reference for concrete produced by volumetric batching and continuous mixing, including the expectations around calibration, tolerances, and production testing that underpin quality concrete.

ACI 304.6R provides recommended practice for volumetric-measuring and continuous-mixing equipment, including guidance on calibration procedures and daily operational controls. It explicitly points users to calibrate each measuring unit for each ingredient in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and ASTM C685.

Weight-based dosing with load cells, within a continuous volumetric production philosophy

Blend Plants implements a weight-based control architecture using load cells and automated belt-speed control rather than manual gate adjustments typical of traditional continuous volumetric plants. In conventional systems, gate openings are adjusted manually or mechanically; in Blend-type plants, the raw-material flow is controlled by varying conveyor belt speed, improving automation and reducing the risk of human error.

Even when load cells are used and materials are measured by weight, the equipment remains categorized as continuous volumetric technology due to its production philosophy, and the applicable standards are implemented in a way that is consistent with the manufacturer’s automated calibration and control approach.

Calibration, production testing, and jobsite verification

To ensure quality concrete, ACI 304.6R emphasizes calibration of each measuring unit for each ingredient, using the same materials intended for production, and recommends complete/periodic recalibration based on new equipment, performance data, buyer/engineer request, or changes in materials and proportions.

For production testing and jobsite verification, the framework recommends establishing testing parameters that meet job and site requirements and performing fresh concrete tests such as air content, slump, and unit weight following standard practice for other production methods, with regular volumetric performance verification.

Compliance statement

Concrete compliance is determined by the full system and the governing project specification, including materials, mix design, calibration, and testing frequency. Blend Plants provides the process control and automation platform to support these requirements, while final acceptance is defined by the purchaser/engineer and the project QA/QC plan.
