MX CONCRETE AGITATOR
CONCRETE AGITATOR ON RAIL
Blend concrete agitators are designed for use inside tunnels. The constant and homogeneous mixing of the materials is guaranteed by a high efficiency Hardox mixer in the hopper, and is powered by a diesel or electric engine mounted on board.

BLEND MX08 FOR MONTE CENERI
Blend Plants supplied six concrete agitators, transported by wagons trains, for the construction of the two-pipe tunnel (9.5 mi each) of Monte Ceneri in Switzerland. The first positive test, carried out on April 28, 2017, permitted the construction start in July 2017. Due to the shape of the tunnel and the particular laying technique used, the MX08 agitator was specially developed by Blend for GCF in order to speed up casting operations, in compliance with the client’s safety requirements, ensuring quality concrete. The works, completed in 2020, significantly contribute to reduce travel times from Milan to Zurich.
Blend Plants wins the DITECFER 2025 Award

On June 4th, 2025, Blend Plants was awarded at the DITECFER Railway Innovation Contest, a prestigious recognition celebrating excellence in Italian railway innovation.
The award, given to our “MX” concrete agitator, highlights our commitment to delivering advanced technological solutions to the railway sector.
The system ensures constant and homogeneous concrete mixing, thanks to a high-efficiency mixer housed in a durable Hardox hopper.
This innovation enables:
- a significant reduction in manual labor, as it is operated by a single person;
- faster concrete distribution compared to traditional drum mixers;
- lower cleaning and maintenance requirements;
- reduced energy consumption;
- and minimized noise emissions—ideal for night work or noise-sensitive environments.
This recognition further strengthens our commitment to developing solutions that enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of railway transport.
